Our Horses
Shawnee: One of the founding horses, Shawnee is a 17 year old 16h Anglo Arabian mare donated by Jan Pedigo. Shawnee is a sweet mare who loves treats and pets. The Anglo Arabian is half Thoroughbred and half Arabian. They were created for the military because of the desire for the Arabian Horse's endurance and the Thoroughbred's speed during war time. Shawnee has neither the want for speed or length under the saddle, but she is a very sweet mare that loves kids, pets, and of course cookies!
Sabir: Our other founding horse, Sabir is a 38 year old 15h Arabian gelding also donated by Jan Pedigo. Sabir had a rough start to life and thanks to Jan, he ended up with one of the best lives. He is very trusting and will come right up to you in the field. Though Sabir is retired from riding, he is still good for learning how to brush and just be close to the horse. Update: Sabir was put to sleep June 1st of 2023. He will be so very missed here on the farm. He provided a lot of laughs and good therapy to those that knew him best.
Sisco: Sisco is a 19yo Tennessee Walker donated by the Fogt Family! Sisco was used as a trail horse most of his life, as well as parades. He's a been there done that kind of guy. The students call him their Unicorn. He is very sweet and loveable and takes good care of his riders. Sisco was diagnosed with Bone cancer in April of 2024 and it was decided to put him to sleep. We are heart broken as he was so full of life until the very end. He will be sent to an Osteopathic school for study and who knows, he could make a real difference in helping horses with this type of Cancer.
Chance: Chance is an 19yo Tennessee Walking horse purchased from our local Veterinarian. He was with Dr. Travis for 15 years, and he wanted to make sure Chance lived out the best years of his life here on the farm. He is considered a Cremello color with "glass" eyes (very light blue). Chance is a great asset to our lesson program and loves to be ridden or groomed, as well as given treats!
Our Horses
Bullet: Bullet was purchased for the farm as a riding horse by the Chumbley family in KY. He is an 11 year old 15h Tennessee Walking horse gelding. Bullet will be the first to run in for a snack, and he loves being ridden. He is a gaited horse which will make for a smooth ride on the trails. He's also a big mover and it can seem intimidating for some people but he always takes care of his riders.
Renegade: Renegade was purchased by Debbie (Kerstin's mom) for herself, but she doesn't mind him being used in our program. Rennie is a 7yo 15h Quarter Horse gelding. He is very sweet natured, and definitely the curious one of our bunch. If you aren't careful he will pick your pockets and run away with your things. All in fun of course. He is a very nice ride for anyone that would enjoy a more stocky horse. He did a refresher with Kerstin and has since been used in lessons and on the occasional trailride!
Ernie: Ernie was donated to the farm by a rescue that took him from a therapy program. Ernie is a mid 30s 18h Draft Mule. We believe he is a Percheron type draft mule. He will be a great beginner's mule, has been trail ridden many times around this area and enjoys the company, especially with a nice handful of grain after the ride. Ernie was diagnosed with Mouth cancer in 2024. He is still thriving and doing well, so we are just monitoring it for now.
Moses: Moses arrived in August of 2023. He is a 17 year old Quarter horse. He, like Sisco, is a been there done that kind of guy. He worked as a Heel horse and a Reining champ. Moses is currently on a refeeding program and when his weight picks back up, he will be placed in our lesson and trail program. Exciting things for this guy as he is very sweet and loves to work.
Buckshot: Buckshot was a recent purchase for the farms lesson program. He is a 18yo Tennessee Walker and LOVES kids! Buck is often found in the middle of the herd but will come running for his treats! He is a very sweet horse and in October 2023 completed a 5 and a half hour trail ride with a beginner rider.
